DSV purchases Schenker for near $16 billion

DSV is going to create a global logistics giant with Schenker takeover. Danish transport and logistics company DSV has announced its largest purchase to date, finalizing an agreement to acquire Schenker from Deutsche Bahn.

The purchase aims to improve DSV’s global network, knowledge, and competitiveness, benefiting workers, customers, and investors. The deal is valued at €14.3 billion ($15.8 billion).

Volvo has plans to launch a new electric compact crossover called the EX60, which will slot into the lineup alongside the internal-combustion XC60. The news came at a September 5 Volvo event in Gothenburg, Sweden, a day after the automaker showed the facelifted XC90 SUV and walked back previous ambitions for an EV-only lineup by 2030.

Metal prices dropped by 3.1%, led by iron ore (-6.5%), lead (-5.3%), and copper (-4.4%). Precious metals rose by 1.8%.

Future robotaxis from Waymo to drive themselves using fewer cameras

Waymo has revealed its new sixth-generation robotaxi with a sensor suite “optimised for greater performance at a significantly reduced cost, without compromising safety”. The robotaxi company Waymo says it wants its vehicles to drive around US cities with fewer cameras and radar sensors in future.

The next generation of vehicles and software will only need 13 cameras instead of the previous 29.

BYD to use Huawei's advanced autonomous driving system in off-road EVs

Chinese electric vehicle (EV) giant BYD has signed an agreement with Huawei to use the Chinese tech conglomerate's advanced autonomous driving system in its off-road Fangchengbao EVs. The Bao 8 SUV under the Fangchengbao lineup will be the first BYD model to sport Huawei's Qiankun intelligent driving system and go on sale later this year.
